Issues with headlights, Ford refuses to help

I commented on another persons thread about the spider web cracks forming in my headlights along with a burn spot inside the lens. I contacted Ford and they told me with out actually saying it, that they will not help unless there is an outstanding recall out. They said the same thing when I called about the peeling chrome on the tail lights a few years back. I will try to get pics up of what I am talking about, but its definitely a design flaw somewhere along the line. I would imagine cheap, ****ty plastic being used is the culprit. This car is official my beater car and I will be driving it into the ground. I will never buy another Ford after this car. Along with their cheaply made parts, they have terrible customer support and refuse to own up to mistakes. That's not the way to win over your customers

It was a tint film. I highly doubt it had anything to do with the damage in question. If anything it slowed down the process by blocking the sun from hitting them directly. When was the last time you saw someone with tinted headlights that had cracks forming?

Welcome to the world of plastic lense headlights. Manufacturers have been trying different composites for years to find the best possible plastic for headlight lenses. The nature of their use, however, means that they will eventually yellow, crack, etc. It's called UV exposure. Between the sun on the outside and a lot of these cars rolling around with the lights on at all times due to the auto-lights that many people never turn off, the . lenses receive a lot of exposure.

I have brake lines pop on my 2006 and didn't even think to ask Ford for help and that's a safety issue. I gave up on Chevy and switched to Ford and now Ford is on the way out in my fleet of six cars. The new Taurus in not for me because it is too big and bulky while interior space seem to shrink. Fusion really didn't test drive very well.

Let see.... you have tint film over the headlights that blocks some light (and heat) from escaping thru the lens. Where does this extra heat go? Into the lens and housing hastening their demise.

50% or more of the cars on the road with plastic headlight lenses are yellowed, fogged up, have microcracks, etc, and many of those cars are way newer than yours. A lot depends on if said car is garaged or not. Cars that spend 24/7/365 outside will suffer degradation much quicker than cars that are garaged much of their life.
