So, I bought another RCU, it should be coming in the mail later this week. So, I was wondering how I should wire my new system. I am going to repalce all four speakers with some aftermarket stuff. Down the road I will be using a 4-channel amp to power the speakers. So, I was wondering how I should wire the line converter in. I am using the PAC OEM-2 for the convertor. It takes in the front and rear speaker leads, and changes them into two sets of RCA cable. One RCA is labeled FRONT, the other is labeled REAR. What I think I'm going to do is cut the 8 speaker leads coming out of the back of the RCU, and hook them up to the corresponding wires on the convertor instead. Is this the way it is supposed to work? Or am I supposed to only tap into the speaker leads, not completely cut them off? I will be using only one RCA cable, to hook up to the new 4-channel, but down the road I might want to use the other RCA. Do I have the right idea as how to wire all of this? Hopefully you guys can help me out.

Oops, you have a sho. Take all the speaker wires except for the ones for the subwoofer and connect them to the LLC, unless the LLC has a sub in spot... You might as well use all the ch's on the amp if you have them or just buy a 2 ch IMHO. Instead of runing new wires all along the car I think that you can just tap into the other wires coming from the RCU, (the ones going to the speakers :D ) thus saving you wire runing time. I am not %100 sure that that Idea will work but it should. Wait for someone experened with sho audio to confirm first.

Good Luck,

Brad

In 96 the SHO incorporrated the JBL premium sound system. It included the 6x9 "subwoofer" in between the two 6x8 speakers in the rear deck. They changed that audio system to the MACH audio system in 97, which is what I have. So, I do not have the subwoofer lead. In the harness coming out of the back of the RCU, I have the 8 speaker wires. I'm pretty sure this is the same sound system as a regular Taurus with the premium MACH sound system. I think I understand what you're saying, however I WANT to run new wire all the way to the door speakers, the rear deck speakers won't be a problem, they're right there.

I think you misunderstood me. What I want to do is cut the speaker leads out of the back of the RCU. Trash the wire beyond that, then just hook my LLC up to the wire I cut out of the back of the RCU for signal. I'm checking with you guys to see if this is the right way to wire the LLC. I'm making sure that I don't have leave the stock speaker leads there, leaving them connected to the RCU. Am I right in thinking that I have to completely cut them? So the wiring will go...

RCU --> Speaker leads out of back of RCU --> LLC --> RCA cable --> 4-channel amp --> new speaker wire --> speakers

The LLC I have has two RCA cables, so if I want to, I can add another amp for a sub. But I could also get two 2-channel amps, one for the fronts, one for the rear. Although, it would be more costly than just getting a 4-channel amp.
