2018 SE Remote Start

Recently got a 2018 SE; love the car overall and was a great price, new off the dealer lot.

I want to install a remote start system. Prefer OEM for the sake of troubleshooting down the road, as well as warranty.

This is what I've found so far:
RS kit (plug and play) https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/part...er_da8z-19g364-a.html?Make=Ford&Model=Taurus&Year=2018&Submodel=&Filter=(39311)
Hood switch (required and my car does not have it) https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/parts/ford-sensor-asy_bt4z-19g366-a.html
Switch harness (required and my car does not have it) https://www.fordpartsgiant.com/part...Taurus&Year=2018&Submodel=&Filter=(39311)&Location=remote-starting-kit,,14B504B

I have a few questions ...
  • has anyone done this upgrade before? (I did a search on this site but didn't find many helpful threads)
  • if so, are there any other parts I need or will these three parts cover it?
  • can this be done at home with ForScan? (I've used ForScan before on my F250SD; works like a charm, but the F-series trucks have far more market support than does the Taurus, and the lines of code don't always line up)
  • if cannot be done at home, what price was paid for labor at the dealer? (I presume an hour or less?)

Thanks for any help.

I was actually wondering all of this as well. i just bought a 2015 that did not come with the remote start.

Are you talking remote start with your FOB, or with your cell phone. Mine came with the remote start on my FOB, but I put the one for my phone in myself. I have a 14 Limited. Took about 30 minutes for the phone one, but I only had to install the modules and take it to Ford to be activated.

Spoke with local dealer today; they were essentially no help. They wanted about $700 for a job that is a few parts, along with turning on a line of code. Parts on the 'net are about $300 or so ... In fact, the dealer first told me to check with the local Ziebart shop. Uhhhhh no thanks.

So here's my next question:
Is there a picture already uploaded to this site, or can someone take a picture for me, of the wire harness for the hood switch? There are three components (RS module to be inserted under dash; the hood switch; the hood switch harness). The under-dash RS module is a simple plug-n-play system; it gets connected behind the OBDII port; that's easy. But I have no idea where the wire harness plugs into the main system at; is it under hood or under the dash?

Can someone who has fob remote start, or at least the VSS (vehicle security system) with the hood switch, please take a picture under the hood of where the switch mounts, and where the wire harness terminates into some other module or harness please??? I just need to know where to start from, and the rest should not be that difficult.

I would greatly appreciate it. And in exchange, I can take pictures of my install and upload it, so others can learn from it.

OK - so no one has the ability to upload a picture of their hood switch from an SEL, Limited or SHO???

Let's try this a different way ... anyone got a lead on the formal Ford manual that would tell me where to find the components in the car chassis, or have a link to the installation instructions for the kits?
