My wife's Neon decided not to start this morning. It turns over fine. I'm guessing it's the fuel pump, but I don't know how to read the EEC-IV codes to check. Can I read them just like the FOrd EEC-IV codes, or is there a different process? I really need your help - She's driving my SHO until I can get her car fixed, and I really want my car back........

www.allpar.com That was my god when I had my Dodge Aries

As with ashley said, turn the key from the off to on position(not starting the car) several times, ending in the on position. The codes will be flashed at you thru the check/service engine light. I beleive they are 3 numbers... soooo

blink blink pause.. blink pause...blink blink blink.. would be 213 then a really long pause will occur and the next code will be read. One code means "test passed"

read the site for more :D

To check the codes, its turn the igniton switch, on off on off on, then the SEL light will come on as a bulb check then go out and then start flashing the codes. The last code will be fifty five, which means the end of codes.
I own a 95 Stratus with the 2L sohc engine had it sense new, if the codes are the same I guessing code fifty four cam position sensor. Check and see if you have spark when engine is turning over. coil packs go bad in these cars I can tel you how to ohm it out if needed.
Good Luck

Well, it's the fuel pump. I'm not getting any pressure AT ALL and the pump won't run. I called Autozone - they want $185 for the whole fuel module. I looked in my Neon service manuals, and they state that the feul level sensor, fuel pressure regulator, and pump are all one unit, and are not individually servicable. CRAP!

I didn't get any DTC's from the PCM - just the two 5's which means "no more codes".

Now I have to cut a hole under the rear seat of the neon, and replace the whole module. fun, fun, fun.........

:( well that stinks, I would check the dealer price for the part. If there is not much differents I would get OEM. Also did you check the fuel pump relay to make sure its energizing and power is going to the pump?

Before you go to the effort to replace the fuel pump, check to see if the inertia switch tripped.
The Neon doesn't have an inertia fuel-cutoff switch.

Well, it was a bear, but I got it fixed. I had to hand-pump out 10 gallons of gasoline so that I could take out the fuel pump. Not fun. Now I reak like gasoline, and I have a headache. But I het to drive my SHO again (Elisa was driving my car while hers was down. I had to hoof it everywhere).

How many miles on the neon when the water pump took a dump? My Stratus got 124k on it. Im wondering when I can look forward to this fun job.
