I Have A Feeling My Heater Core Is Clogged...

Tonight I drained the radiator. Disconnected the heater core hoses and sprayed into the heater core with a garden hose. I then sprayed into the heater core with a compressor spray nozzle. After that I reconnected the heater core hoses, refilled the radiator and poured in a container of radiator flush. I ran the car up to temp then let it run for another 10 minutes. I let the car cool then drained the radiator and refilled it with water and did the same thing. I then finally refilled the radiator with 50/50 antifreeze and water mix.

Now I have heat but it still seems a bit strange. While driving the heat was strong. When I stopped at a red light and the car was idiling the temperature got cool. As soon as I started driving it got warm again.

After a 20 minute ride on the highway it didn't get cool while idiling. I think flushing the core helped but it doesn't seem to be perfect yet.

Could I have air in the system? Is there a special way to remove all the air or should it work itself out over the next few days? Could this be a sign of a water pump problem?
