I have a 92 Taurus GL Wagon 3.8L.

My wipers will not work every time I turn them on. When they do not work, I can hear a clicking noise near the dash/steering column. Sometimes I can turn them on and after about 5 seconds they will start to work. When they do work, when I turn them off they are supposed to go down to a position low on the windshield but they do not go all the way down. If I touch the wiper motor, it is extremely hot. When I use the windshield cleaner combination, the wiper fluid comes out but the wiper do not move.

This problem started about 6 months ago. It did it for a day or so and then they worked regularly for 6 months. I thought they were fixed after I cleaned the connections and then this problem starts again.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If you hear a clicking coming from under the dash that is where the interval governor is. It is in between the MFS and the actual wiper motor. located in the center of the dash behind the radio somewhere.
