I just recently purchased a 99 taurus se vulcan. I need to replace the windshield wipers, now i know this is going to make you chuckle and question if i am kidding or not, but the windshield wipers currently on the car look to me to be to big. Further examination shows me that they are 21". The right "wiper" reaches about 1/2" off of the winshield. now, my guess is to just go one size smaller but i would like some clarification besides my guess. thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Most FLAPS will have a chart so you can make sure you get the right size. Also, some cars use different size on either side (mine's 20" & 19" IIRC).

Working off memory, the passenger's side is the longer one, but they are different lengths. Most parts stores should have a catalog, or computer that you can look them up in. Most likely, someone just put the same size on both sides, resulting in one being too long.
