Hey I have a 1990- Taurus and I need to replace the windsheild immediately before I get pulled over again for it. So what I am wondering if anyone here has removed one and changed one themselves, and if someone has if they could provide me with some tips on removal and reinstallation.

Thanks

Not usually something you can do by yourself. Usually upon removal the windshield gets destroyed. Nowadays they have special tabs that cause major breaks in the glass when you try to remove it.

Gotta have it professionally done. Probably cost around $400 (US).

Ben -

I know this isn't an answer to your question but if you don't mind me asking why are you getting pulled over because of your windshield?

However, I do have to agree with Duratecchie on this one. I've had two windshields replaced before (for around the price range he described) and it didn't look like something for a non-professional to attempt. Sorry if it's not what you wanted to hear.

Cool, it must be significantly cheaper to replace windshields in Canada then. That would be almost half the price we had suggested it would be (226USD).

I guess it all depends on geography.

Both times i had to replace a windshield (a 91 Blazer and an 85 Bronco) i lived up in Chicago and the cost of living is twice up where i used to live versus where i live now. I'm sure it would be much cheaper where i live now if i had to do it but i was going off my previous experience when i said 400.

Thanks Anyways Racer!
