I'm thinking about getting my windows tinted...how much have you all paid to get yours tinted? I'd just like to see what the range is.

Also, for those of you that live in Indiana, specifically the Lafayette or Indy area, where did you get yours done? Did you like the job they did? Would you recommend them to someone else?

Thanks,

Parker

I was quoted $150 by a nearby shop that is very reputable. (www.customtints.com) I just never got it done, but that's what I would have, well, what I will pay (eventually). And that would take it to the darkest it can be legally. (Not sure if darkness makes a difference in pricing).

Got mine for $140. Im guessing about $120-150 seems to be a pretty good rate for tint.

thanks for the responses. it sounds like i'm going to be somewhere in the $130-$170 range (i'd like the lifetime warranty).

Does anyone know what the legal limit is Indiana? I know a friend back home had the 5% tint like DR on his Avalon and I thought it looked really good, I just didn't know if it was legal or not.

Yeah, I go to Purdue. I'll have to cruise over to Ziebart sometime and get an estimate...I'd really like to get my windows tinted.

Thanks for the replies all.

Actually tinting over the brake light is alot more work on the pre-02' models. On my 00' the tinter had to take out the entire rear shelf to take off the brake light to tint behind it. The newer ones with the LEDs just pop off. I hate when they cut out for the rear brake light, it just ruins the entire look.

$115 out the door including removing the old tint on my 1991 and 1998 SHO's. $125 for the Dodge Caravan. All windows except the windshield. My 1991 was tinted 10 years ago and still no bubbles. I got a discount because I sent all our company vans for tinted windows and alarms the last few years.

Well....how do you like the look of the imprint of another car's front bumper in your rear bumper....the elevated brake light's there for a reason and it's not looks.....

P.S. I know that's a smart A** comment........but you've got to admit it's true

My last Gen IV with the old style 3rd brake light was tinted 20% in back so the light went right through the tint. This car has the newer LEDs which are much brighter and they don't have a problem shining through my 5% that I have on now. IMO though I would not get 5% again though. I wanted it a little darker than 20%, but 5% was the next level. If anyone else does this get used to looking out of the side view mirrors, as you will not be able to make out the person behind you very well.

i've had 5% all the way around and the only way you're not seeing a high mount brake light through the back window is if the window is spray painted black. not to mention u have 2 brake lights on your tailights too.
