well even though i should be fixing the sable i decided to paint a few things. i am not the biggest fan of chrome so i got rid of a bunch of it yesterday. i will skip right to the pics!

before

in the process

after

ok if you noticed the rear spear was painted black i took a couple pics of how to take it apart you need to pry the emblem off very gently and i used a piece of a spray paint cap to protect the adhesive from the paint as it was still good enough to reuse, paint it and put it back together, i got the idea from a platinum edition i saw when we were towing my car home it had a body color rear sprear and i liked the black.. the grille i started out with wanting it to be body color, well then i didnt like the chrome ring so i painted it black lol. i also painted my plate frames they were chrome and kept oxidizing so it was time to paint them. i also debadged the rear bumper casue the emblems were in poor shape overall. i like it what do you guys think?

i am going to leave the chrome trim on the doors i do like that also going to leave my ehaust tips alone, i do want to make my headlights darker though

oh and i put a tip on my moms wagon what do you guys think?

not bad for a tip that cost less then 10 bucks at walmart and is real stainless steal!

It looks fine. Even cool looking on a second look.

What tint are you going to get?

50% will be pretty damn light! Mine currently has the state limit of 35% on it and it is very light. I loved your 5%.

I am not fond of chrome. We have too many low riding homies with chrome 22s on their Monte Carlos in LA.

Sable23, I think it looks good. Dont forget to paint your headlamps black too. :)

they are black lol they are just really foggy... so they dont look as dark as they should, as far as i know i am the first maybe the only one on this site to have painted my headlights on a g4 sable... not sure though

I really thought I was going to hate the grille without the chrome trim around the outside...but I really like it. Good job :thumb: I especially like the black rear spear. If it were my car, I'd think about blacking out the window frame chrome too.

I don't think the headlights probably need to be any darker inside - you just need to buff out the lenses (don't forget the fogs too!) and it'll look awesome :coolgleam:

I dechromed my 2000 SES until I got the Chrome SHO wheels. I liked it a lot.

I bet people think you are driving a cop car.

Honestly the Sable looks beautiful without the chrome spear and grill, looks way better what you did and I like what you did to the tail lamps. Beautiful car you got there my friends ;)

This is giving me a great idea. I've never been too fond of the chrome stripe in the middle of my door moldings. I wonder what they would look like if I painted them black?

thanks guys i really thought there would be more people that liked chrome more? lol now i cant wait to get it fixed!! got to get my act together and get the contour going first. you know when i was lookin at the pics earlier i kinda thought that the trim around the windows looked outa place being chrome, idk though if i will paint them i think i am going to wait a little bit and see how much i really like it.

lol on the cop car comment, i scared the sh*t outa my sisters ex boyfriend one time i came up real fast behind him around a curve with my sunroof popped up, he thought i was a state trooper! it was pretty funny.

yeah i need to get some new fasteners for my rear plate they are pretty ugly lol but without a way to get to walmart (they have the fasteners i want) it will have wait. also think i am going to tint the useless orange reflectors on the front bumper. right now the car is just screaming for an aggressive aftermarket rim but i am too broke!!! that is the one thing this car really needs i think.

I like chrome, but the Sable looks good even without it. Good job on the mod! If it were my Sable, it would have chrome rims, chrome door edges, and some other chrome goodies, but thats my taste. MN only allows 50% tint? It's almost not worth having it at all. Mine has 26% side, 16% rear, as per TX state law, but down here you need tint, since the sun is so strong, I often have young children in my car and I don't want them in the sun for long, either.

The rear spear looks great with the tail light mod that you did. If the tails were stock, the painted spear would look cheap and out of place. The extra black ties it all together. The front is my favorite part. Looks like a platinum edition. Your car makes me debate whether I like the Taurus or Sable front end better. Excellent work. B)
