Check for timing chain deflection, new Cloyes set not expensive and makes sense to replace the set since the cover is off depending on your mileage. Pan gasket is silicone, should it leak after the TC installation you don't need to drop the pipes to change the oil pan gasket, just wipe the pan flange down with degreaser and install the new gasket using small cable ties or short wires to keep it in place as you stretch the other side under and over the oil pan, same with the ties or wire.
After installing the bolts remove the wire or ties and you are good to go after torquing per the shop manual.

Just installed new water pump in my '99 Taurus wagon since I had to do the TC gasket and chain set, only one weep hole on the new pumps.

Yes we will check the Chain and gears while we have it open, not expecting an issue have just about 105K on the motor mostly highway miles with regular oil changes.

Just got done doing this job a couple days ago. Having a brother in law with a shop, great tools and lots of experience sure helps. We did find some pitting but had no issues using rtv on all mating surfaces. Put it all together, tightened it up and let it sit overnight. Tightened again the next morning and then got back to reassembly. Running fine with no leaks.
