Hi guys,

May remember me. I'm the guy who had an occasional idle fluctuation when the rad fan turned on. Never got that one worked out. Now I have an issue that I think may be related, but not sure.

Ok.. So, when its doing its crappy idle thing and I gun it in park, it will NOT go past 4000 rpm no matter what.. Its like vrr vrr vrr vrr .. No smoke, nothing to funny, just wont get past that point! Its not smooth.. it definately a vrr vrr vrr vrr thing.

What the heck is up. Its a 2002 SES (has the lower powered v6) that, UNFORTUNATELY, just went out of warranty and the dealership always told me their was no prob. I wish I had tried gunning it before. I never noticed because I dont usually gun it in idle.

I'm wondering if its an intake sensor.. crank sensor.. ?? I'm such a rotary engine guy I have no clue on piston engines anymore

Anyone know whats up???

p.s., the battery light does NOT come on when it does that. I only say that because my brother had a bad regulator on his 2000 and it would kind of cause the same thing becuase I guess their is a switch that cuts juice when your regulator isnt regulating anymore and your rpms up the voltage to a dangerous level.

oh well.. this is so bumming me out.. grr

If the rev limiter was removed how many rpms do you think the car can safely be dropped from with the break applied?

I dont think you can change the torque converter stall speed with a chip. I believe thats what keeps you from going past 2k rpm while holding the brake in drive. You'd need to change the torque converter to one with higher stall speed.
