MINE...

Honestly though, I think it just matters on what your looking for. I've always liked Infinity for their sound quality and ability to pound, but I've always liked Kicker for that reason too. Maybe thats why I own Kicker products.

Wow, I just realized I've been busy with posting today. This is like the 5th or 6th thread I've posted in.

Too hard to pick everything, i have a pretty good one going into the neon.

Two Kappa Perfect 10's in a sealed box, two eqts, and epicenter, audoibahn crossover, audiobahn line driver, kappa perfect 5.1s up front, kappa 6x9's in the rear, alpine headunit, and RF amps =0) On a side not i just flush mounted my EQTs in the headliner and it looks great!

thats a very broad question, and one that really doesent have an answer.

you want balls out SPL, mind blowing SQ, a mixture of both, you wanna modify your interior, you wanna drop $100k on stero pieces?

there really isnt an answer to "what is the best", its what you want and what you can afford.

hey dejavu, you got any pics of those EQT's in the headliner? that sounds pretty sweet... might steal that idea from ya if its not too hard

It was seriously simple to do, the headliner had some 1/4 inch think fiber to it that supports the EQTs really well, i'll grab some pics today for you, i have to make some brushed aluminum frames to go around them and give them a finished look still though.

I also like infinity for their sound quality and kicker for their subs. Infinity for the interior and kicker for the subs is a good combination.

If you could have your "Dream System", what would it be?
the one in my sig. except maybe with some different amps, perhaps some audison amps. mmmmmm *drools*. yeah, definitly lots of audison amps. a different HU, not too much different though, perhaps in in dash screen. and maybe i would alter the components a bit, but thats just getting nit picky for me, those components are already the shiot(and they havent even finished getting built
)!

I have Infinity Reference 6x8's in the rear of my car and 2 - 12" 600w RMS Phoenix Gold Titanium subs w/ a Legacy 2000w amp - when I turn the amp up a little (normally run it @ about 1.5 out of 10 on the dial) it will hit really hard
but I am running this on the stock head unit and it still sounds incredible. I couldn't believe the world of difference once I replaced the rear speakers. The only other thing I might do is replace the front stock speakers with Infinitys.

I have a question for all of you serious audiophiles.

Are these huge megawatt systems for bragging rights or what?

I just had a system put in my car that doesn't rate any where near the specs I routinely see posted here and in 5 minutes it will make your ears bleed.

It sounds great to me with no distortion even when you jack the volume all the way up and the sub will vibrate your fillings out.

A 10" Clarion "open air" marine sub mounted in that middle hole that everyone said would sound like crap, it doesn't

I can't help but feel that a lot of people will be walking around in later life go
"HUH did you say something"

I am already there from my job and concerts and 80 watt systems.

Anyway i guess this was a statement rather than a question.

some are for bragging rights, some like it louder, and others will build a stereo for competition purposes. i personally do it for all three of these reasons :-D

A huge megawatt system is not necessary but definitely a hobby lots of people have. I actually enjoy listening to my music very bass-heavy, but I like a full soundstage and I like to hear every instrument strong. but I dunno, 1000W RMS on the bass would be more than enough for me, heck 700 would shut me up. lol

If I could build my dream system, ok here we go...

Alpine CDA-7897 head unit
Alpine CHA-1214 cd changer
Focal Utopia 165W 6.5" components
Soundstream Tarantula TR700/2 (175x2) amp for the components
2 Resonant Engineering 15" XXX subwoofers
Directed 2400d mono block amplifier (2400x1 @ 2 ohms) for subs
Another battery for these damn amps
Ok so maybe not my dream system, I could get a lot wilder than this. But this would be something I'd go out and buy now if I won the lottery today. lol. it would at least give me insane sound quality as well as get freaking loud. But if I won the lottery, this would be going into my Kenne-Bell supercharged Marauder, not my Sable.
