I'm about to get my '93 taurus back on road after a timing cover water leak. Was wondering what years I could swap trannies with.
Mine is an AX4S behind a 3.8. I was told by a junkyard that only a '93 would fit a '93 but figured if anybody would know what I could use...
Yall would.

We have some good tranny experts here -- I'm not one of them -- but the junk yard might be right. Electronic engine and transmission controls tend to be year- and engine-specific.

I don't remember reading of any transmission control module on the TCCA forums. Other marques have separate engine and TCMs, but I don't think we do.

You might re-start a new thread in the Engine and Drivetrain Forum with a headline that will catch the attention of transmission gurus, such as "Need to swap out my 93 AX4S - will any year work?"
