I have a '99 se and i have the door pods that are the solid plastic (not even the fake grills, damn Ford ) anyway, what size tweeters fit the best? 1" or maybe 2" ? Also, they just wire into the stock speakers right, so that when the radio is on they turn on too?

Dont mind me, Im a Taurus Noob and I just wanna know so i dont screw stuff up

um....i have 1" tweeters in there now, and 1.25" would fit fine. with some modification, you could go bigger.

I had some 1". They were just barely too small, so I wrapped the inside of the pod with masking tape and I was able to securely mount the tweeter cups.

Wait....Not every Gen III came with tweeters? I have a 97, with the mesh grills, and I swear I have tweeters in there.

not all G3's had tweets.

The stock tweeters are connected to the door speakers, with an inline high-pass filter.

So if you have tweeters, they would be behind the mesh grille near the outside mirrors? I know I have them, because I can hear sound coming from them. Was that an option on all Gen III's?

yes, it was an option on gen III's, I have the pods there, but no speakers inside
I put 1.25" in and had to do just a little cutting on the plastic mount

Some late 99's like mine came with the grills, but no tweets in there. Early 99's came with blank plates. If you have grills and hear sound, then you've got them.
