I would get a radar detector but they look ugly just plugged on the windshield

If buying one I've been thinking about getting some sort of box (something tasteful) and drilling a hole for the power wire to snake through
well just get a visor mount and you won't have ugly
or just don't get one ..lol

Mine is from an odd brand called My-Eyes... I haven't gotten a ticket with 'em yet, so lets hope they don't fail me. :D
Like Ben said, Just wait it's coming... DO NOT be a smart ass, I have some real good stories and only twice I did not get a ticket because I was working. The other pull overs for stupid stuff (non moving violations) I didn't get ticketed either.

Totally off topic but I love how someone saying that Motorcraft 5-30 is good for 11k miles and that he is sure it's still good oil cuz it's slippery between his fingers caused me to make a reply that is now 4 or 5 people's signature. :)

Lol, 5.9 Ram is not that fast bro.
Much agreed...... I've driven my father's 01 Ram sport many times and honestly my wagon is faster. It takes a LOT to get those big ass trucks moving.

That being said..... I use the 'ole calibrated eyeball. Cops in NJ THINK they are slick but they aren't. They all hide in the same spots so if you drive the same routes day in and day out, you know when you can speed and when you can't. I speed, but I don't pass everyone on the road and drive like an asshat. Plus, if you do get pulled over in NJ and have a radar detector you are GAURENTEED a ticket, where if you didn't have one you might be able to talk your way out of it being respectful. With insurance rates how they are in this state, I'd rather not have one.

The V1 is 100% worth the 400 dollars. The arrows may seem to be a gimmick to some people, but it has saved my ass a few times. Not to mention it was quick to let me know that an unmarked Toyota Camry (!!!) LEO was coming up behind me (the arrows showed this) tagging people. The Toyota truck that sped passed me clearly didn't have that advantage and got pulled over.

As far as 5.9 Rams...yea...not very quick. However, My 5.9 Dakota R/T is easily every bit as quick as a stock SHO, I can see getting in trouble in that.

Yes, I know that a 5.9 Ram is not that fast compared to an SRT-10, or Sam's Dakota, or an SHO, but in comparison to every other car I've driven, it was the fastest, It was even faster than my dad's Crown Vic when I drove both. So therefore, saying I learned how to drive in a 'fast' truck was a correct statement, because it WAS the vehicle that we had with the most HP, and biggest displacement engine V8.

Learned to drive in my dad's 79 trans am. 4-spd 400ci  what a gas hog though.

The unfair thing was that he would put some rubber down and drive like a bat out of hell when he was driving but forced me to accelerate slowly and drive respectfully. Silly dad teaching me responsibility and stuff

I have 2 V1 detectors, one in my 86 Tbird 5.0, and one in my 88 Turbo Coupe. They have saved my a$$ more than once when I was out burnin up the back roads. Just like the V1 ads say, once you have had a V1 with the arrows, you cant live without them.

I have an old Escort 5000 (graphics display / spectrum analyzer) in my 05 SEL Tec, and an even older Escort (cant remember the model) in my 95 GL Vulcan, and a cheapo $49 one I got off Amazon (cant even remember the make) in the 02 Grand Prix GT. The wife NEVER speeds in her 04 SES Tec, so she doesnt really need one.

The V1 detectors have double to quadruple the range and much better anti falsing ability of the other detectors I have based on my experience.

I rarely speed more than 9 over the limit in normal driving, but do like to "let loose" occasionally out in rural areas. I started using detectors back in 1978 when I got an undeserved ticket for 77 in a 55 (you old guys will remember the national 55 mph speed limit)...... I wasnt speeding, the guy next to me was, but the cop assumed it was me in the bright red, loud exhaust 69 Mustang, and not the guy next to me in the wood grained Pontiac station wagon who was actually speeding. Since I started using detectors, I havent gotten a speeding ticket (thats 35 years of never having been pulled over!).

I have gotten only 1 ticket. However I've passed many cops going too fast. They ignore me because I look like a grandpa and then nab the red mustang going slower than me (yet still too fast). Happened more than once actually!
My experience has been similar. It's almost like camouflage/stealth. Sometimes I think the wagon is invisible to the LEO eye. I am an 80 mph keep right except to pass interstate driver. No detector and have never been pulled over for speed in any of our Bulls.

Skully, my daily ride 'Wing, is the complete opposite. It looks like a moving violation even when sitting on it's side stand. My brother the cop shakes his head at it and has told me in a group of 30 bikes Skully would be the one he figured to be carrying the 8-ball and an illegal handgun. As a result it is equipped with an Escort Redline. Up here range is a critical factor. The combination of extended range, excellent visual warning and ease of operation made it the best choice for the bike. I am not alone in that opinion, it is the detector of choice for riders in my region.

I drive at least a hundred miles every day and have never used a dector.
Gives you the false impression it's ok to speed. Do some ride alongs with your local highway patrol and you won't be so eager to get there 2 minutes quicker.
