I think I have seen that on a truck and believe it is something with the fuel system. Not sure what it is but there is some writing on it maybe that could help. Any wires going to it.

I went to the junkyard and looked at about 20 of them and none had it. They had a small jug right there instead. I asked them for the printout of a 97 taurus vapor canistor and it pulled this long list of taurus cars. I was thinking it had something to do with that but im not sure really. Just a guess. Searched online at the parts store and couldn't find a look a like neither.

Those look like hydraulic lines. Can you follow them and see where they go?

Follow the lines to see where they go. My '00 wagon didn't have one.

It appears to be an ABS sensor, an obsolete Ford part.

One side goes to one of the fuel rails, the other side runs to the fuel filter. Is it indeed an ABS sensor?

No way any ABS sensor would have any connection with the fuel rail.

I bet my original guess that it is a pulse damper is correct.

You're right; I'm wrong Jeff !
I made that guess before he posted about the fuel lines.
