I will try and explain this as best I can. I have a 2003 sel. on the center of the dash close to the windshield there is a little module that sticks up. If you look real hard you can see that it is a light. In fact on the Ford trucks and SUV it lights up when you arm the alarm. On the Taurus the alarm light is on the instrument cluster. So why is it there and can you use to as the alarm light?

I think thats your Automatic Headlight module. It detects the amount of light and deceides wheter to turn your lights on or off.

Well...some Fords haev their alarm system sensor right there, and for the taurus I think the blinking light is hidden somewhere else. Just some thing Ford choose to do.
