Hey guys

I went to the junkyard to check out some cars today. Saw a 90 SHO on there.

Poor GEN1...

I saw a Gen1 reggy on the road today..He was kinda pumping smoke a bit, I was getting kinda irritated cuz I was behind him. I was about to pa** him when I heard a sound like a dying dear getting caught in the belts, and I asked my girlfriend "Lilu's not making that sound, is she?" Then, we noticed the poor Gen1 was making the sound. Then, all of a sudden, the sound dissappeared and the reggy started puking smoke out of the engine bay and around the front tires, and it sounded like the tires were locked up (they weren't.) I saw a small peice of rubber fly out of the engine, and then the smoke and sound stopped, and the reggy got off the freeway.

I don't know what happened, but I made my girlfriend mad cuz I kept saying "poor taurus."

(/stupid story)

(ATTENTION Pa** is now a bad word.)

That sounds like a great idea for the sway bars and all, but what is the purpose of them? Does it make the car stiffer in turns? Sorry i'm trying to learn about all this.

Hey, are the rear brake assemblies still intact? What would be involved in doing a drum-to-disc conversion on my 1993 Gl with ABS.

Exactly, it helps to stiffen the rear end (rear sway bar) and help keep the wheels planted on the ground when you make sharp turns.

I have seen pictures where the 26mm rear sway bar is installed and someone is turning a sharp right into their inclined driveway and their passenger rear wheel lifts off the ground since (4" i believe it was) it stiffens the rear that much. There was a thread with that picture from a week or so ago. I'm sure someone will mention a link to it.

The purpose of the sway bars are to stiffen the vehicle while taking turns. This is GREAT when on a track doing a course. Not like Im going to take my Sable out there on a course, but it's always nice to know that you can hang with the big boys.. you know?

As for the Brakes, yes all the assembelies are intact. I was thinking on getting them for myself, but I can get em off for you if you would like

You mean Roman's car?
My SHO has always done that, even when I had the puny 19mm RSB in there. FWIW, that has just as much to do with the front sway bar. Say for example you are making a right turn. The front right tire goes up the incline first. The stiff front end doesn't allow the front right suspension to compress, so the car leans to the left. The right rear tire comes off the ground. If you had no front sway bar, and a 35mm RSB, it wouldn't lift the rear tire b/c the front right suspension would just compress independently of the rest of the car. Conversely, if you had no RSB, the back right wheel would extend down and touch the ground.

Extremely stiff springs and shocks eliminate the need for sway bars, but sacrifice comfort when driving straight down the road and encountering bumps and potholes.

Yup, that would be the one i have seen the picture of. I know Bob G. had said when he had the 24/26 coombo on his car it used to do the same thing.
