ok my buddy blake took his moms blk vulcan out for the night, nice looking car I admit, he goes lets see how fast your taurus is compared to mine, cuz he knew I modded it a bit, so we lined up, pulled away pretty even, we decided to do a 1/4 run, haha how I pulled on him like no other, 4 lengths when we were done, lol fun time!!

me: 2000 Taurus vulcan FFV. Intake, exhaust. [email protected] 1/4 mile
him: 95 sable 3.8 essex stock. 1/4 mile...??

I know hes got gobs of torque at like 100 rpm's

but i feel i should be able to take him once we get up and moving.

you have nothing to worry about. he'd be lucky to hit 17's stock. lol.

think twice..essex is very fast from stop. gen ii sable is not as heavy as gen iv.

I had gen ii and gen iv sable.. gen ii 3.8L is wayyy faster

You can't make up that 40lb/ft of torque

haha. if you are racing 20 feet the 95 will win. any more and your vulcan is going to give it a tongue lashing.

the 3.8 cannot breathe up high. first the intake sucks on it. then the cam is extremely mild. with that aftermarket exhaust you are going to fly by it like it was standing still when you hit 2nd gear.

It'll probably be a close race... What's with the hating on the 3.8L? I've yet to experience this "breathing" problem in the higher RPMs. I still have very decent power 3000-4500RPM.
