Vulcan Performance Mods

Hello, this is my first official post and I know this question has probably been covered a thousand times but here it goes.... What mods (if any) can be done to the Vulcan for added perfomance under the hood? Is there an intake (like from a Ranger) that can be swapped and get more hp? Interchanges with larger throttlebody. I already know about the silencer but I'm looking for more power than that. No, I do not want a power adder (supercharger, turbo charger or nitrous). Has ther been any head swapping to find more power in these Vulcans? Has anybody tried to adjust timing and how did you do that? Thanks in advance,
Mark

Thanks, guys. I guess I'm not really looking for an aftermarket head but alternate head choices. Are there any that flow better than others? I'm a 5.0 freak but I'd love to get some extra performance out of the 2000 Sable. I don't mind porting and doing other things. Is the spark controlled solely from the EEC and not from a crank sensor? Something has to tell the EEC where the engine is. Also what is the stock fuel pump output? Couldn't you just add a fuel pressure regulator and adjust the fuel pressure up a little or does the computer want to puke on you? I'm very limited on my knowledge of the Sable/Taurus family, but I have rebuilt suspensions and minor engine repair on a '88 bull.
