All of a sudden today, my 2005 decided not to start. No fuel pump, nothing. Starter and battery are both brand new, battery is charged. Had our backyard mechanic friend engage the starter, but it won't turn over. Could it be the security system? The light blinks when the doors are shut and no key in ignition, but when I turn the key to the first position, it shuts off.

Any ideas?

If it was a issue with the key chip, the theft light would blink rapidly at the point it should start. The starter has to be grounded on the bellhousing bolt and the starter itself. If the ground wire is not making connection, what you experienced will happen. Check all the 3 starter wires for proper connection. I honestly believe it's wiring related. Or the new starter itself. Good luck.
