Almost all stations around here the gas is at least 10% ethanol, there are a few that have non oxy premium. It comes at a cost though, about 30-50 cents more than 87.

I too have been tossing around the idea of getting an sct programmer and after reading how it does help I think I well spend the money and get one for my 2006 se. I already have P255 R50s on it so all I need is the sct.

Well don't expect the gains that we're seeing. All that can be increased for you is spark advance, which will increase power with good, high octane fuel. Just know throttle response won't change because you already have a cable driven motor!

HOLY TIRES. Why the heck do you run such wide tires!? I ran P235 50 ZR16 and they would rub if I turned lock to lock. They were on the Taurus when I sold it and I strongly suggested that the dealer replace them with OEM sized one. I'd start there before a tune...

Those tires will just slow you down.... It was hard to burn rubber with the stock 215's!

I had 235s because I basically stole them. They were "take offs" from a new car at Discount Tire. I got them with 1,500 miles for $40 a tire. The were Goodyear Eagle RSA

Nice, the RSA tires aren't bad at all. Sporty too.

225 makes sense. 255 does not lol, unless you have a 2013 limited.

A lot of 2008 talk in this thread. ;)

Just saw that Livernois recently released a tune for the N/A 2013 taurus. $599!! Not sure if it is worth it. They have only tested on a 2013 Explorer Sport. Stock whp is 218 and 199 torque. 87 tune delivers 242 hp and 226 torque. 93 tune gives 251 hp and 241 torque. Pretty solid numbers considering the N/A motor.

Has anyone done this to their 2013?? I really want to give it a shot but at $599, not sure its worth it considering that these tunes aren't even offering a 10% gain. Hoping that 5-star or someone else can help me out!! Waiting to hear back from Mike at 5-star about pricing. I am so sick of the throttle lag and droning!

$507 is using a MyCalibr8or Tuning Device from Livernois. A SCT X3 tuning device should work on the 2013 models which is Mike at 5 Star will probably offer.

Last few tanks of gas I have got an average of 23.5 mpg, that was with a crap load of aggressive highway driving up and down mountain hills. Pretty good for AWD and I was also driving it to try and keep it in overdrive gear as much as I could.

For AWD of that year that sure isn't bad at all.

Hi,
I went with 5-Star, Mike was great getting me two tunes for $407 (87 & 93) I have a 2013 Taurus Limited FWD non ECO-Boost. I was simply amazed how well my car shifts now and that lag is gone. I am running the 87 octane tune now and will try the 93 octane tune next week after I run a full tank of 93 thru her first. I have no Idea how the numbers are for acceleration, hp and toque but she drives so much better now. Very happy :) Thanks Mike at 5-Star!
