After my 2004 Taurus sits for a few hours or overnight the trunk will pop open when the drivers door is opened. You can hear the solenoid pop just like you hit the trunk release button on the dash or the key fob.

I also noticed that the unlock button on the key fob will pop the trunk as well not every time just after the car has been sitting.

I under stand the key fob messing up but how could the drivers outside door handle pop the trunk.
Are the two connected?

If any one has any insight to this problem Please let me know.

No. key fobs only for the keyless.

Someone with a 2004 as well is having a similar issue with their trunk popping on its own, as well as someone with a 2007. Wish I could find their respective post topics...
