Trouble Code I Got P0401

Well ever since i replace the fuel filter on my 98 sable (vulcan) my check engine light turn on and off. Well finally I went to Autozone to see what was the trouble code that I was getting and this is the one I got "P0401 EGR insufficient flow detected". Now what I want to know is what should I troubleshoot first I was looking over the Haynes book that I got and it was showing me these different step to do but I cant seem to find the page where it tell u what wire to check for voltage or for ohms. Also has anyone had this problem before and if you did what did you replace on it and after I find the problem and fix it would the check engine light turn off or would I have to disconnect the neg of my battery for about 10min and it should erase the code like that or what? thanks

Did you make sure to have the filter in the correct position. there is an inlet and an outlel on each end of the filter. I'm assuming installing it backwards may be your flow problem.

Well not to my knowledge I remember putting it like the old one was on and in the same direction that the arrow was pointing at but I will double check just to make sure. what way should the arrow be pointing at?
I got that code about 2 years ago and it ended up being the DPFE sensor. There was actually a recall for my car for it, so I got my money back. Do a search on egr and you'll find lots of info.
I agree, probably your DPFE sensor.

This can help you test it: CHECKING THE DPFE SENSOR FOR PROPER VOLTAGE & VACUUM
Alrite well thanks you guys and I will look into that 2morrow to see if that giving me a problem by any chance do any of you guys know the part # for that part? And do u know how much do they be runnin for??
If it is not the DPFE sensor which cna be bench tested easily you need to check teh EGR ports behind the throttle body, mine were plugged solid with carbon
