Trim Lines Gen Iv

Does anyone know what all the differences are on the trimlines on a Gen IV Bull?

SE, SES, SEL...what *are* they all? Do they mean anything at all?

Curiosity, nothing more...

I'll take a stab

SE = Special Edition
SEL = Special Edition Limited
SES = Special Edition Sport
This is what i have read and heard
SE = Special Edition
SES = Special Edition Special value group
SEL + Special Edition Luxury

There's also an LX on the Gen IV's - not sure what that stands for though.

LX - base model - Vulcan engine, no ABS, no Traction Control, base interior trim options, might come with tape deck instead of CD standard

SE - CD player standard, Vulcan engine - optional Duratec upgrade, no ABS standard, no Traction Control, a couple of extra interior options

SES - CD player standard, Vulcan engine - optional Duratec upgrade, ABS, optional traction control, optional floor shifter package, dual lit vanity mirrors, optional heated exterior mirros, rear fold-down seat, leather optional, optional sport package, optional climate control, optional mach audio

SEL - ALL SES options - basically automatically just fully loaded - optional moonroof, not sure if traction control is standard or not, optional mach audio

Hope this helps. This should be mostly accurate - if I missed anything, somebody should chime in. :)

As incredible as it may sound every one of those various lines have exceptions to them. For example My 2001 SES doesn't have the "standard" CD player but it has many of the optional features. Its a good rule of thumb to use Jason's guide as a baseline but you have to be flexible. One of the reasons there are so many options for all the levels of trim is that they change throughout the years. The LX was once the top of the line, and a 1999 SE had all the SEL options. Another reason the Taurus trims seem to blend into each othr is the huge amount of fleet sales. There are always a lot of flexibility in fleet sales as far as options go, and there are some crazy combinations out there.
Where's the Grand Touring trim level?

I want to see a blown 302, rear wheel drive, with independent rear suspension...in my *wet* dreams...

Thanks! I've been trying to figure out what mine is, it's badged as an SE but has the Duratec and most of the other SES features, and the dealer (hooray for brilliance) was touting it as an SEL.

And godspunk32...wouldn't we *all* like to be blown? But for my RWD dreams, the GTO suffices :)

Thats funny on so many different levels...

Yes, I think we can categorically say we'd ALL like to be blown... :lol2:

LOL

But for RWD, the new Mustang will CRUSH all!!! And the 06' Cobra (done by none other than Carroll Shelby) will crush that!!! I can't wait!

I have seen SES Tauruses that have almost every feature the SEL does but they are as Troper8 says options not standard. To make matters worse there was a tsb out for certain SE models that were really SES models a couple years back. Confused yet??
Here's my guess:

Taurus -

LX luxury

SE special edition

SES special edition sport

SEL special edition luxury

Sable -

GS grand sport

LS luxury sport

Sables:

GS- General Sh*t
LS- Less Sh*t

Sorry, I just had to say that.
SE = Slow Edition ? :p

Sounds like my car. I have a 2000 SE that seems to have a lot of SES options. ABS, traction control, center console shifter, Mach Audio w/6 disk changer in center console, probably others i can't think of.

the se doesnt have cd player standard. thats part of the value optoin that comes with power driver seat and 6disk changer. traction control and abs are options. no duratec upgrade. optional heated mirros. optoinal fold down rear seat. optional floor shift

ses.. forgot the optional moonroof. optional wood trim

sel. bucket seats standard. can get 2 tone tan leather seats. think it has everything ses has standard. the luxury

funny to think how the LX was the LuXury one and now its the bottom of the line.

my se is a special edition, 1st yr made :notworthy:
I don't believe there was a SES in 2000, wasn't it just the LX, SE, SEL, and SE Comfort Group?
