Hi,
I have a 97 taurus with 113k miles on it. The car will not go forward in drive and will not go backward in reverse. It is at a repair shop and they said that there is no pump pressure. I checked the linkage and it seems to be ok. Is my transmission bad or could the filter be dirty?

i just had a similar problem on my 97 taurus with ~120k on it. it stopped moving forward and would only move in reverse. have a mechanic actually look at the transmission. we had a guy look at it, and he referred us to a transmission guy cause he didn't do trannys.

When was the last time you had service done on your transmission? As a rule of thumb, have the transmission fluid drained or flushed every 30k miles especially on older engines over 100k miles. Spending $150 is worth the price compared to $2300 for a new transmission.

Just my 2 cents worth.
