My friend has a 92 V6 3.0 the car starts up great, shifts into drive just fine but when the car shifts from 1st to 2nd it pops into Neutral.

Any ideas?

I'm guessing that you've already checked the fluid level? If so, how does the trans operate other than that? Once it does the 1-2 slip, does it re engage?

Checked the fluid, and looks good. It will not shift into 2nd at all, it fells like it wants to but doesn't. I have to put it in park to get it to shift back into drive.

From the sounds of it, and keep in mind this is hard to diagnose online, the tranny's shot. I can't remember what the exact part is called, but it's something like 1-2 shift servo.
