I have a 1996 Ford Taurus GL. Just recently it has been doing this:
I can shift into any gear, no problem...drive up the road a bit, stop, the car acts like its in neutral....doesnt move. Wait a few minutes and it sometimes "bangs" into gear, sometimes "pops" into gear gently. Took it to the Transmission guys, they said not the tranny. Once in gear..no probs.
I can put the car up into park and back down into drive, can hear it shift into gear, take my foot off the brake....revs like its in neutral. They did the tranny tune-up, checked the sensors, etc. found nothing, tested the fluid for metal...none.
Anyone have a clue? I also have had probs with the front end...vibration in the brake and gas pedal, intermittently, bucking, possible warped rotor? can hear what sounds like the brakes rubbing and rumbling when braking downhill, intermittently.
Have not found anyone with quite the same prob.
