I was curious to what tranny is strong enough to support the power of the G2 SHO? I know that the AX4N's are somewhat...well...crappy, so....is there a good alternative....like maybe a later year AX, or what about switching in the 5 speed tranny....anybody have any ideas, experieces or suggestions ?

there are some companies which make beefed up transmissions for our cars. They aren't cheap though.

do you think that a 1996-99 ax4n tranny would be stronger (or strong enough) than the G2 ax4n?
There was no G2 AX4N.

also explode 3rd gear after 300 ft tq
some of us here have dreams of big power out of their 3.8L v6

Look into fiting the ATX from a mazda 6 in there. Mazda 6 uses a modded duratech so it should fit in theory, would need to reburn the computer for it to work right though.
