Not really, the rest of the car is still a Taurus. The reason your car has mounts are so that the engine vibrations don't shake the crap out of the cabin, and you don't get jerked around every time you shift gears. That would be really uncomfortable.
The purpose of a torque strap is not to hold the engine down with force, it's to prevent the engine from travelling under hard acceleration which will improve your throttle response. And it also puts less stress on the mounts because they have less work to do. IMO it's well worth the $5 you pay for it, and it's a good way to kill a couple hours when you're bored.
