I was just looking on my hard drive for stuff while cleaning it out and making more space for MP3s (LOL) when I found this. Check it out... I'll post it here in case anyone is searching for tire speed ratings, tire speed ratings, tire speed ratings, tire speed ratings, tire speed ratings.

Symbol--(km/h)------(mph)
A1------5---------------3
A2------10--------------6
A3------15--------------9
A4------20--------------12
A5------25--------------16
A6------30--------------19
A7------35--------------22
A8------40--------------25
B-------50--------------31
C-------60--------------37
D-------65--------------40
E-------70--------------43
F-------80--------------50
G-------90--------------56
J-------100-------------62
K-------110-------------68
L-------120-------------75
M-------130-------------81
N-------140-------------87
P-------150-------------94
Q-------160-------------100
R-------170-------------106
S-------180-------------112
T-------190-------------118
U-------200-------------124
H-------210-------------130
V-------240-------------149
W-------270-------------168
Y-------300-------------186
Z-------300+------------186+

So when you see something like
P205/65R15 83T

Then you know it is a T rated tire and is ok up to 190 km/h (118 mph).

It may also be built into the tire code
P205/65TR15

Oh and I guess I'll explain the rest of the tire code...

1. Designation P205/65R15

P = Passenger, LT = light truck, there are many others but those are the most common.

2. Width P205/65R15

The width of the tread, in millimetres (mm).

3. Aspect Ratio P205/65R15

The height of the sidewall as a percentage of the tread width. For example this tire is 65% as tall as it is wide.

4. The R P205/65R15

means it's a radial tire.

5. Size of wheel it fits P205/65R15

Fits a 15 inch wheel.

And that is how you read tire codes. Simple enough eh. I tried to make it as simple as possible so if I oversimplified anything or I am mistaken let me know.

Edit: Stupid spacing on the chart.

I want to know WTF uses an A1 rated at 3mph.
Some of those older gators and whatnot, I'm sure, never exceed a certain speed limit.

I'm willing to bet those lower rated tires include the huge swampers and stuff.
