folks,
I am getting a brand new :banana: 130 amp alternator today for my 96 GL bull.

any tips.instruction on changing it? Esp what NOT to do.

I am planning to loan the serpentibe belt tool from autozone.

get a comfortable chair and something cold to drink...you can do it one handed and sittin' down on a Vulcan engine. :D

d/c the battery...and you should be alright. good luck.

(-) is all that's necessary. But you might want to disconnect both (-) and (+) to make sure the battery terminals are clean and free of corrosion.

good deal. thx. I also gotto change that idler pulley. So gotto spray wd 40 hours befoer. otherewise that damm nut/bolt might be frozen.

Spend the $4 on PBlaster. WD-40 is a poor lubricant and not very good at loosening stuck bolts and nuts. PBlaster works much better, and you'll be glad you have it whenever you need it next. It's available wherever car parts are sold.

Congrats on the new alternator. Where'd you get it? eBay?

Yup I go the alternator on ebay for 122 incl. shipping. Its a brand new one (looks exactly like the OEM, made in taiwan thought), just got it yesterday.
It even had a computerized test print out... showing graphs performance curves etc.

Will give more feedback on that ebay store after I install
