OK so here's a new one. For the last 5 or 6 months I've been driving around with this thumping noise coming from the right front wheel. I don't feel anything in the breaks, and it gets louder in the turns. I jacked my car up yesterday to get an idea of what it could be but no such luck. I checked my ball joint and tie-rod for play neither had any. I looked at my CV joints for any busted boots or worn joints, none. Which there shouldn't be cause I just replaced the Transaxle assymbly 2 years ago. finally I looked at my lower control arm, strut and swaybar end link, all are nice and firm w/ absolutly no play. So what could this be? It's not the tires cause they're brand new and same with the rims. I just replaced both last month to see if that was it. it went away a lil with the new tires, but came right back within a week.

More info please. Does the thump corespond to tire speed or is it when your on an irregular surface or all the time even on glass smooth pavement. In my own experience the strut can be compltely broke in two internally and still appear fine. But it thumps or has a muffled bang on any thing except glass smooth pavement. Worn bushings in the strut would quickly cause odd but possible minor tire wear causing the thump to return.

Wheel bearing, guaranteed. It's also easier to replace the whole knuckle assembly. That way, you get a new wheel bearing and ball joint. There's an Ebay seller that has them all the time for $100 for a PAIR (left and right). That's a steal, and you'd pay more than that for a shop to press out the old bearing and install a new one.

If it's not the wheel bearing, it may be your strap on rattling around in the glove box.

ok the thumping noise is fixed but I now have a new problem. I had to replace my front breaks along with the front hubs. Now when the car makes a turn it makes this horrible screaming noise. I know it's something to do with the breaks but I can't understand why. I've changed the breaks all all different kinds of cars tons of times and never had a problem like this. I have all the right parts I double checked. I also have blead the breaks. Anyone have an idea??? It only happens during a turn and only pretty sharp ones too. thanks

check to make sure the back plate on the front discs (the thin metal surround, guard, shroud... i dunno what to call it) is not rubbing the rotor. It may have been bent when the front suspension or brakes were worked on.

This happened on my Fiero once.... the car would scream around corners (literally) until I got out and bent the thing back with my hands.... after that, no more problems.

The back plate may not be touching during straight line driving, but during a turn the rotor actually flexes a tiny bit. It may be just enough to hit and cause the noise.
