I am looking to try a new throttle body on my taurus. I have found a 3.0 4V throttle body that looks just like the one on my 3.0 2V. Do you think they are exact all the way down to the TPS sensor?
I talked to DP about buying a TB from a 4.6L. And from how he describes it, the controls are on the wrong side. Basiclly, it's upside down, from th Duratec TB. It might still bolt up, but their will be some major modding done to fit.
I am new to the web site. Anyways, I have a question about my Sable 97 Vulcan. I was installing an air intake and I took out the IAT and the black thick tube that comes from the Throttle Body to the air filter housing and I think it got wet so when I put everything back in place I wanted to turn on the engine but it didnt want to turn on. Does anyone knows why?
I have a 62mm TB and it is NICE. It is letting 2 lb/min more air into the engine then stock that's 6005 RPM vs. 5603RPM. My Autotap refreshes a little slow, so it's hard to catch the same RPMS. Every little bit does count though. The MAF i have is stock too, that can be upgraded to let more air in too.
With a bigger TB you will notice a better throttle response though. I am getting 30 MPG on the highway even driving like an idiot.
i have been looking into this mod also. i have tried to put a 65mm mustang throttle body but, i have the plastic upper plenum which makes it difficult to modify the opening to accept the larger butterfly. the other problem is that it pulls from the other side. i looked at flipping it over and trying to mod the throttle controls to match the stock set-up. i do not see any way to get around the inability to open up the upper plenum so i think i am back to the drawing board. after you do a larger throttle body isn't it a good idea to change the mass air flow sensor? i don't think these maf sensors can really tell that there is more air coming in. i could be wrong. someone want to school me? sixfofalcon? spridget? bob? kermit?
The MAF measures the air coming in. If there is more air, it will measure more air. There is no need to replace it.
Sable97, did you reinstall the IAT? The car may have problems running without the IAT. I have forgotten to plug it back in before when pulling the Upper Intake Manifold off, and it idled like total crap.
