I am a 4th Class Cadet (Freshman) at Massachusetts Maritime Academy working towards my Marine Engineering degree. We had a 52 day training cruise aboard the Training Ship Enterprise (TSE). The ship was built in 1967 for the Lykes Brothers Steamship Co. In the 80's she was turned over to the military as part of the ready reserve fleet. She was an ammunition ship during the first Gulf War. She sat languishing in the James River Fleet until 1998, when she was taken to Bender Shipyards in Mobile, Alabama. She arrived on Campus in 2001. We took her out on the Maiden Voyage this year, travelling to Panama, Costa Rica, Aruba, and Charleston. Cruise started out pretty rough with the Emergency Diesel Generator prelube pump dying, and the refrigerators and freezers both going on the fritz. This almost made us have to make an emergency stop in Norfolk, however, things got jerry-rigged in time, so that we did not have to go into port. --Will Finish Later--Dinner Out Tonight
