I have a 1999 Taurus SE with the 3.0 DOHC engine. The car now has 228,000 miles on it but still runs like new. I did have to rebuild the front suspension and fix a few other mileage related issues and have been happy with the performance. However, here lately it has felt like it hesitates while under load, like going up a hill or under acceleration. I checked the trouble codes and I came up with the Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid code, I forget what the actual code was. My question is how hard is it to replace this unit. I have lots of mechanical skills and abilities so I am confident in my abilities to do the work, but I have never heard of this peice before. Is this located on the exterior of the trans or is it something internal. Thanks for your help in advance.
