A relative was in an accident while driving a 2001 Ford Taurus. He lost control of the car as a result of a break in one of the rear coil springs. If you have experienced a rear coil spring break on a Ford Taurus model 1998-2003 which caused a loss of control of your vehicle, please contact me at [email protected].

This is a huge, well documented issue. Check the interweb, you will find a lot of information, including people trying to class action. There are recalls for certain years. I had a coil break on my '96 and I didn't know it (because of where the break was) until the strut ripped out of the mount at the top.
