I have a question about the operation of the cooling radiator fans on a 2000 Taurus (Vulcan FFV).

Only the left (driver side) fan comes on, the right side fan does not turn on. Temperature gauge is about 1/2 way, no overheating and a/c blowing cold. Did an a/c accumulator/drier replacement and that is how I noticed the fan was not kicking on.

Does the right hand side only come on when engine very hot or should both fans be working with the a/c on? If they should both be on what most likely failed: relay or temperature sensor or the fan motor itself?

I live in Florida, hot enough here for both fans to come on I would think!

Thanks for your replies. I am a newbie here and did a search for this but did not find an answer.

Both sides should operate at the same time, same speeds. If you get a hot day, and run the ac at idle, it'll start to run on the hot side. I have an extra one here I can sell you if needed. I bought a pair when one of mine died.

Thanks for your quick reply! I will apply voltage directly to fan to see if it works if not a replacement is in order seems like.

If anyone wants details on "installing" a '95 2 -speed cooling fan(ford Escort Doaner) into a '91 Vulcan (single speed - Taurus). Let me know. I will do a write up.
