Ok heres my dilema... I have a 2000 ford taurus. I was tired of looking at that retarded green so me and my buddy the past few days have been changing the leds in the door panels to red instead of green. This takes alot of time and patience. Especially someone who's good at soddering is also a plus. Looking awesome. I will post some pics soon. Well now I am going to work on the dash. What color should I choice. so many choices. So little good combinations. The exterior of my car is like a dark brown.. aka chestnut. the interior is tan. But since most of my window switches are red... hmmmm.. i wonder.. idk.. its to confusing. I plan on having this all done this weekend and then moving onto the next big project. In Dash PC.. oh ya. I already know the correct wattage and everything. Just need the color.

Well, I'd say go with the whole color scheme - if you put red in the door switches, I'd put red in there.. or to make it easier on the eyes - maybe blue?
I'd agree w/ashley. your color scheme is red, but blue is much, much easier on the eyes...I guess if I it was my decision, i'd go w/red b/c it is all over your car already

true.. but well this project will have to be put on hault. the bracket on the door panel itself that holds the switches in is busted. I have it basically duct taped on. Dealership wants 270 for a whole driver side panel... which is what i need...
.. i say screw that.. junk yard.. $40. just gotta wait till saturday. I'm so mad about that.. going to roll down my window and woops... finger keeps going...

Are the dash lights LEDs also?

I'd like to change mine to white, like the electrolumenescent lighting of the Lexus line. (They are *too* cool- when you turn off the ignition, the "dash" disappears. No intruments or gauges, just a black panel.)

All the LEDs are solderded in place?? That might make the dash "lights" a real problem. I don't know that I want the change that bad.

to be honest its not to hard.. thanks to my buddy doing all the work and thank god he knows what he is doing.

It's just a matter of popping off the door panel.. removing the wireing for the windows and mirrors on the side and all... taking apart the window button motor... and bam there are the leds.. just desoder them from the back.. insert the new correct bulbs.. now they do have to go in a certain way.. i will post the correct wattage of them later tonight and some pics and try to come up with some kind of instructional guide for a 2000 and up taurus led change or something.. i think the lights i am using are like 2 volts or whatever.. dont use 1.. go with the 2 volt or 3 to the max... now the only problem i am having is the bracket broke that holds my window buttons in place.. but that is because of careless ness and I was in a hurry... contact cement will fix that.. tomorrow i am going to work on my dash.. i think i might go with red seeing how I already have the red bulbs in hand..

i am not sure if the dash lights are led.. i am pretty sure thoe.. white was one option I liked... saw it on someones car who has posted here before... the soldering to be honest isn't hard.. just gotta get a nice pointed sodder gun.. desolder the back.. insert new bulbs the correct way.. when you look at the switch.. if anyone takes it off.. there wil be like little arrows pointing out.. i believe the pattern is long end on arrow.. short end away from arrow cause the leds are all dfferent lengths. and trust me once it's done.. it looks awesome.. not hot spots or anything..

Ok everyone.. I am very very sorry about not posting but the night I was going to post I got hit with nasty trojan.. had to reformat and lost everything.. and needed money for new harddrive so luckily my pics were still on my camera.. and here they are...
This is of the dash... it looks kinda funky.. sorry it was coldand I was shaking.. but to be honest when you look at them up close.. it's not that bright.. I used basic 194 Red bulbs which you can purchase at autozone or murrys

And finally the button lock..
I will seriously try to get a better shot of the buttons without me shaking..
Also to let you all know the dash bulbs I recently changed to a different type... cause if you use the 194 R you will have kinda like white spots.. but the bulbs I installed completely elimante that... it's very red.. and very cool.. I will post where I got the bulbs at.. they cost me about 17.95 for 5 of them...

Installing the bulbs is very simple... but you need to remove the radio to do it.. if you have the two holes on each side you need to get the stereo removal clips from murrys.. there like $5.. remove that and it makes things much easier.. also another big thing you have to do is remove the.. idk the correct name so I will try and describe it.. its for your parking, drive, reverse, shifter if you have the shifter near the steering wheel.. it's a little cable you need to release to be able to pull everything off.. makes it much easier.. and then finally remove the screw... remove the wiring.. and there are the bulbs... if anybody is seriously confused about this let me know and I will try to clarify it... other then that... it took me and my buddy like 25 mins to do it all.. very simple project... and it does turn out nice..

My stereo is my next project.. changing the SUPER bright leds to red instead of blue.. and man are they bright..
