I was thinking of doing some SVT badgework myself on my car as well, so i say go for it! Most of our vehicles here are "special" and they are "vehicles", and the TCCA is like a "team", so an SVT badge wouldnt be posing at all.

In the old days, few people really knew what SVT meant, so a badge on a Taurus might have been cool. But now, SVT is an established in-house tuner for Ford - unless you got something to back up the SVT claim, I'd stay way from the badge

I can see it now.....

I'm driving around town, with my brand new SVT badge on the back of my Sable GS....I pull up to a light and the car next to me see's the SVT badge and wants to test me. Light turns green, my mad Vulcan powah isn't enough to back up my SVT claim, and I hang my head in shame for being a poser......

I think i'll pass....

I say go for it. Why not? Its all your personal preference. People put SVTs emblems on just about anything anyway (heck, I have seen a John Deere tractor with the emblem)

I have seen people put Cobra emblems on stuff like Escorts, now that is dumb!

If you put an SVT badge on a non-SVT vehicle, then you can no longer poke fun of all the Type-R, V-tec, NOS, and other stickers/badges you see on other cars.

The choice is your's, but I see no point in putting a badge that isn't true on your car.

Anyone want to slap a 5.0 badge on their Taurus?

Yeah, unless you have SVT heads or twin turbos and N20 or even enough all motor work as in Venom's case, you deserve the badge. But if you can't back it up, you'll just be haning your head in shame like all the rice we nuke already.

SVT on a non SVT vehicle is kinda ricey. Same goes for GT, Cobra symbol, etc.

My idea, as of lately, is this...instead of an existing one, like SVT, why don't you come up with another one? - a badge unique to your car, that perhaps all of us other TCCA'ers could use. We wouldn't be infringing on SVT, we'd be unique, and it'd be a great way to identify hardcore TCCA'ers.

Example: In high school, my friends and I formed a racing team - IONX. To commemorate each of us putting in tons of work into each others' cars, we created badges with some stylish metal letters, and each put one on our car's trunk - IONX. Instead of Taurus LX, mine was Taurus IONX. Instead of WRX Impreza, my buddy's was IONX Impreza, and so on (there were 10 in all). That was many years ago, back when I was in high school, and we've since taken them off (we all scattered across the country), but I still like the idea.

(And yes, don't let that baby-faced avatar fool you, I'm a lot older than I look.
)

But anyway, instead of a Special Vehicle Team, why not a Carclub Vehicle Team? We all put in time to help improve each other's vehicles, so why not show off that commitment?

And since Taurus CVT is just off the top of my head, and it's more of an example than anything, anyone is more than welcome to suggest a better name/acronym.

So, any takers on this idea, or am I just talking out of my a**? I think it's neat, but then again, I'm an idiot.

As a former Contour owner, (LX 2.5V6) I'd say putting the SVT badge on would just open you up to ridicule and scorn, not to mention laughter in some quarters. I remember seeing the 5.0 badges from old mustangs on cars that never had any 5.0 engine or for that matter a V8 in them and they're just sad.

The only reason I'd do it is if you had a car similar to an SVT, but just didn't have the engine, then it's a cheap way to make people think otherwise. Other good place for a badge swap is something like a Mercedes C320 for a C240 or things along those lines where you can't really tell unless you pop the hood or take out a tape measure.

I would LOVE to slap a 5.0 badge on the Sable, but only after the conversion to rwd with a 302 was finished...in my dreams...

But seriously, putting an SVT or Cobra or SVO or anything else is just plain rice...we don't need no more rice around here...

What would CVT stand for?[/b]
Oh, sorry, I guess I didn't make that clear enough. Instead of Special Vehicle Team, it's the Carclub Vehicle Team, or CVT.

Ford has their team, we have ours. I know I've gotten 90% of my mods/ideas for mods from things posted on here, as I'm sure most of us have. It'd be a great way to not only show that off, but it's a great conversation starter to get future members interested.

"Hey, why does your car say CVT?"
"It's our Carclub Vehicle Team. At the TCCA, we work hard to improve our cars any way we can - performance, exterior, interior, sound system - anything you could imagine. I put this badge on to show that my car club has helped me improve my car. Why, on this car alone, I... (insert mods here)"

So far I think CVT, SPE, and TCC(A) sound the best.[/b]
I like SPE, but I like CVT or just plain TCC(A) better because it shows the commitment to the club.

I have a SVT badge on mine. I cut off the SE and stuck it there, so it looks original and I have a Carbon Fiber SVT decal over the front emblem of my FORD badge and 24VALVE HIGH OUTPUT BADGES in place of the orginal 24value DOHC badges.

It's pretty freaken cool.

I don't consider a car rice unless it's a car that is lowered with a wide body kit and chinese symbols, NOS stickers slapped all over the place and neons lights all over w/gauge pods on the side valences and a fire extinguisher on the other.

My car has sutble changes. Lowered 1", lower profile VR tires, mesh grill, a Transmission oil gauge pod installed where my ash tray used to be, reverse glow gauges, and you can see a cold air duct in front of my lower part of the grill. Other than that it's pretty stock. I hardly consider my car rice. It looks sporty.

Yeah, it's rice. My Turbo badge* will own your SVT badge.

*Not real, mounted with masking tape for the pics, took it off after I was done.

That turbo badge looks a little familar. I had one of those badges as factory on a LeBaron GTS that I had several years ago. It was fun til the cylinder head cracked one cold day, then it was history.
