With the AC on but below the High setting it'll surge whenever the compressor kicks on. With the AC on high there's no surging and the symptoms don't appear in park or neutral.

3.0 Vulcan
New IAC
Cleaned throttle body
Cleaned upper intake

AC works great, no complaints about its performance.

Ideas?

check for vacuum leaks, my car has the same problem and i hear hizzz...a vacuum leak, waiting for a right day to explore and fix it, making some audio probe to hear it clearly at close positions, your problem may be the same, check for all vacuum hoses for any leak, even some gasket like exhaust gas recirculation valve gasket etc, i have read many other post people have found weak gaskets.

MAF sensor cleaned, no change.

I was unable to find any vacuum leaks. The engine is pretty quiet when running except for the noisy power steering pump (not too noisy, but it does whiirrrr a bit :p )

also you have to check / clean IAC- idle air control valve that is on the throttle body.
