I think I saw this topic before but here it goes again now that it's happening to my car. So here's the deal, recently whenever I use the A/C or Defrost mode on my HVAC system, the car will suddenly feel like it surging forward kinda like a rough idle. So I'm thinking since it only happens on defrost and AC mode it has something to do with the compressor. It never happens when I just have it on vent (hot and cool). Any help would be appreciated!!! BTW, it's on my 1990 3.0 Bull.

It's probably just the AC compressor cycling and the torque convertor locking and unlocking along with the compressor. My '97 SHO does the same thing and it drives me nuts.

Is there an easy fix to this problem or am I going to have to spend a nice chunk of change to get it repaired? Unless of course I do nothing and live with it. It's only recently that this has been happening. Thanks for the reply 1fast97!

You can just leave the climate control set to vent or floor. That works for me.

If it's cycling rapidly you might want to check the refrigerant level.

I've also heard about guys have luck removing a shim in the compressor clutch.
