Alright so someone offered to purchase my subwoofer

So I began planning my next setup

two JBL GT1041D powered by an Audiobahn A4002T Amp

power would be 200 watts per, 75 watts lower than RMS rating

but the box is the big question

outer dimensions would be 26 x 12 x 18, inner would be 24.5 x 10.5 x 16.5

the volume would be about 2.5 cubic feet (after subtracting port volume and adding 30% for stuffing)

I wanted to reverse mount them, one on either side of the box.

So I wondered since they are firing at one another should they be wired as if it were isobaric loading?

If not I remembered hearing that two sound waves of the same frequency colliding would cancel each other and become a small amount of heat

Also I remember hearing a sub wired in reverse polarity (or correctly in the case + to +, - to -) would sound bad

Anyone with any ideas?

just wondering what your willing to pay for sub and amp? the sub you picked is o.k. and the amp kinda sucks it mite put out that 150 of that 200 watts rms.

also are you talking a clam shell configure if so the clam has to be push one sub and pull the other you do not get louder but deeper bass from that configure

and if your talking a ported with one facing out and one in you get no gain in output from doing so and loose out put. if any thing but they got to be push pull or you cancel out what work the piston does which lowers volume big time. i do not recomend doing this so any ways. i think it is better with push push set ups but it is up to you.

also what about reverse mounting them in a band pass set up.

Listen to what Sadistic has to offer. Changed my perspective on car audio :woot: But honestly the Kenwood you had would be a better option. I would keep it and make a custom ported box with a better amp then you had that will give it the 400rms its rated for. I had three of those Kenwoods and they were pretty good subs and went through some hell.

I was thinking clam shell but I was wondering if it should be push push or push pull, sorry for the vauge description

I currently have one kenwood KFC-W3012 powered by the Audiobahn A4002T (Bridged for 400 watts RMS) but, I'm selling the sub for twice the price I bought it for :D

I could buy two of them for a similer price and create a custom box but my amp couldn't handle it...

I was planning on a reverse mounted setup to increase the net box volume, though a fourth order bandpass sounds fun :thumb:

a clam shell is when you mount one speaker to the other so the magnet stick out and the other in the box but it will be a single hole box for one woofer. and have to be push pull so not to damage the speaker. same is true for a two hole sub box were the sub have one magnet in one out has to be push pull wired. is there a dollar amount you would like to spend there are good deal on phenoix gold rsd amps and subs , soundstream rubicon amps , sony xm-9001gtr, and alpine mrp-500 alpine type r subs can be found under $99 amps most amps can be found under 200 and put out gobs of power. i do not think your looking at brand like audioque, sundown, ssa, sound splinter, stesom, mach5audio etc.... i get them at amzon /ebay for the cheap ones and ssastore .com etc for the other brands check the manufacture web sites.

oh ya forth order band pass all the way

thanks for the recomendations, these are a little high for me but some look like they'd be worth saving for with the massive amount of power for the price

i would check in to the sony i seen it for 119 with free shiping. also did not have time to try amazon i will in a minute for the sony ya clam shell or iso does not work that great so i would not suggest it. but the way you talking two magnet facing out is fine to do they just do not get as loud and you still wire them in the push - push method or parallel them. any ways i will look for a sony on amazon for you.

So i'd be better off with a larger box, both magnets in?

What 50 dollar amp outperforms a 200 dollar amp? If you can't justify spending over 100 bucks on an amp I'd suggest a new hobby.

I have yet to spend over fifty for and amplifier

Memphis PR 100.4 - $20
Audiobahn A400T - $50 - overheating issues
Dual (Model unknown) - $30 - Crappy btw
Scosche (Model Unknown) - $40 - blown from lack of knowledge

I will agree withe everyone the Dual and Scosche Amps aren't even decent but these were before I learned anything about car audio, I was looking for cheap like anyone who doesn't know about car audio when they start

the Audiobahn A400T has served me well, except on hot days

and I have only one issue with the Memphis Amp, the crossover for the rear channel was broken when I got it but for $20 it was a steal

well unfortunatly for me, I''m still 18 and I'm a delivery guy. A little more money than before but not as much as I'd like for my hobby

hopefully when I'm older money won't be such a factor

good point that is the way to do it then.

well back to the box then

I measured the space I have (4th gen Taurus SES)
it was 37x18x12 (correct me if someone found different sizes)
do you have any knowledge I should know on designing a 4th order bandpass, vented, or sealed box?
I was also considering a spare tire enclosure if you would recommend it

Are you sure this dimension actually fit in the trunk? Biggest box I've had so far was 36x14x16. Just make sure that your measurements clear the opening

My box is 33x24x16.5 Can't go much bigger than that besides the width, which can be like 3-4 inches wider.
