That sucks, but it's their own fault. I'll give them the benifit of doubt that they weren't drinking, but if you go "excessivly fast", stuff is going to fly off. Even a 5 star safety rating only goes so far...

Nothing really shocking about it...

All high speed accidents tend to do amazing things on cars, wether it was a Taurus or not, all speeding car accidents go to the scrap yard...

Probably unneccesary and cruel seeing as how three people died, but "ripped off the Taurus' doors, took off its roof and dislodged the dashboard"......wonder what that would have looked like.

Right, especially considering it went through a grove of trees. Think about how much damage in done just in 30MPH crash tests. They were probably going in the neighborhood of 80 or 90 to be catagorized as "excessively fast". Its very sad, but people that take their lives into their own hands will eventually lose their grip.

My thoughts exactly.

I feel sorry for them...but they were asking for it.

They did it to themselves.

Any car no matter if it is a maclaren F1 , lambo's, ferrari's will become swiss cheese when they hit something faster than lab tests are performed. like the taurus a 5 star at 30 just like lambo and stuff maybe the higher price cars that are made to go faster may fair a little better still it will brake apart when hitting something that is no moving.

A guy on the NHSTA web site made complaint that his Taurus was totalled and he injured his legs after due to an accident. Here's the kicker, the guy admitted to falling asleep at the wheel and guessed that he was going about 70-80mph when he went to sleep left the road and struck a tree. He's pretty lucky and the car probably saved his life, but he's angry that it was totaled and he hurt himself.

This accident (the one in article) is tragic, but excessive speed and (if it was involved) alcohol have a way of bringing them about.

now now guys we cant blame all three guys.... we have to blame the guy driving...

dont tell me you can't think of a time where you were riding with friends when you were 16, and the driver trys showing off to you and you are hanging on for dear life???

Btw, two were killed, the other is in stable condition.
