Hello all!
First time poster and owner of an 05 Taurus SE here.
I have a bad case of SAS, which I've read is quite common on Gen 4s, and I'm a delivery driver so I'm looking to replace my entire rear strut assembly.

I drive some pretty terrible roads so if there are replacement units with longer and stiffer springs that would cause the car to ride higher but are compatible without requiring any significant changes that would be amazing.

Greetings and welcome- What is SAS? I replaced the rear strut/spring assemblies in my 2002 with only 75K-It looked to me like the springs had failed by the way the car sits with nearly no clearance between the top of the tires and the wheel well. New stock Monroe's made no difference. If I were to do this again; I would get these: More Information for MONROE 271616

Taxi duty components- You will have to determine for yourself if they will fit in a Non Taxi rated Taurus.

I'd recommend Moog Cargo Coils or KYB Struts Plus (quickstruts).

I put cargo coils in my '00 and if you haul heavy items or want to avoid future sag I would recommend them. I remember also feeling like it held the road a lot better. The downside is a much firmer, harsh ride. I probably put 25K miles on those coils before the car was wrecked and they didn't show any signs of sag or softening.

^+1. You could pair the cargo coils with KYB or Motorcraft struts...

I don't have any experience with Moog "quickstruts". I've used the KYB Struts Plus (quickstruts) on Ford and Chevy sedans with good results. Several suppliers also offer a "taxi" quickstrut.

I put Moog quickstruts on my '04 Sable. After about a year it still rode fine but was sagging again.

Hi. Years ago , I used Monroe CC459, I believe, cargo coil VARIABLE RATE springs, with Monroe rear struts. And slid the strut up, at the bottom, so I can have 28.5 inches, bottom of tire- to wheel well. BEWARE, only recently has the Monroe QuickStrut division ADDED Variable Rate springs to their assemblies. Don't know if the coils were CC459, as they could not tell me! Previously, they were the cheap, weak regular springs that SAG. Still out there on eBay. Pick your solution!

I got my Monroe struts from Rock Auto for my '99 taurus wagon and sable. I have the OTC strut tool (own six cars) so I just intsall the new springs myself with the top bearing assembly. No problems front or rear (wagon has shocks). I replaced them every 100K.

+1 for the KYB quickstrut. I used them on my wife's 2005 after a spring broke, I replaced all four and they work great. Love the ride and no problems after 3 years.
