Its not the first time this has happened . My grandmas 1987 Taurus 6 3.0 was do for a new battery so a bought a new one connected it . Now its back firing when trying to accelerate and its not changing gears it hesitates when shifting . And also i get this jerky feeling coming from the transmission .

This happened about two years ago when I changed the the starter its like the computer is scrambled . After about 3 weeks it stopped doing it the car has been running fine since then last time . But now it feels worst the transmission was replaced in 2005 . Any Ideas would help thanks .

only time i have seen this happen is when the battery isnt disconnected and reconnected in the proper order. the first one i did i had to replace the pcm. the second one was fixed with a disconnect of the battery and discharging the stored power then reconnecting the battery the correct way.
the third one was a loose battery post. a wiggle after the initial tighten helps to make sure it is seated correctly
