What temp is the stock thermostat for the 3.0L Gen II Taurus? What is a good temp thermostat to change to?On my previous car,87 Bonneville, It was recomended to change the stock 195 degree to a 180 when modifying the car.It also helps keep not only the engine but also the tranny at a cooler temp.

Most Fords are 192F. Unless you also turn the fans on sooner then the fans will determine the engine temp when the car is not moving. This is usually 210F on Fords.

The T stat is only a means to set the minimum temperature. The fans and radiator determine the maximum and actual running temperature.
