I have a 1995 Taurus Wagon. It has the side moldings but lately they have felt sticky. I found a set of NOS moldings in the same color as the car from various Ford dealers and they too feel sticky. Is there a fix for this? Has anyone painted over the sticky moldings? Did the paint cure the problem and last? It's the plastic breaking down that is the problem. The resins are leeching out and they leave a slightly sticky feel to the molding. TIA

When you say that the molding feels "sticky", is it also rough feelin? Like road grime is stuck all over it? If so you can try using varasol or a bug and tar remover to remove the grime. Also if the molding is painted you should be able to clay bar it also.
