ok my GF car is 2001 tarus 3.0 ... I just r&r the hearter core .. that was real fun... :angry: .... was great for a few days then this morning it was taken out and out of the blue there is about 2.5 in of play right to left in the wheel.. is there an adjustment on the rack like the older gear boxes to take out the slack

Nope, the u joints for the seating column might have come apart. I wouldn't drive it until you find out where the play is coming from.

oh your so not helping me with this lol.... i know i have to rebuild the rack... as it is like driving a rig with manual stearing... that being if i can get a rebuild kit..

Just replace the rack with a new or rebuilt one. $70-80 bucks.
